Open Check Out
From Territories, go to Distribution, then Check Out.

Pick the territory and publisher
Select the territory to hand out and who it's being assigned to.

Confirm the assignment
Complete the check-out - the territory is now marked as assigned/out, and shows up under that publisher's current work.
Can I check out more than one territory at once?
Check with your own workflow/screen - some setups support batch check-out, others are one at a time.
What if the territory is already checked out?
You'll need to check it in first (or have whoever has it check it in) before it can be reassigned.
